The era of putting people in boxes is over

Hailey Bieber is Latina 💁🏼‍♀️, and she isn’t just Latina; she’s an example of how heritage inspires and motivates creativity without needing to shout it. I can’t wait to see brands explore this angle with her and CROING l Creative Agency

She was born in Arizona and is Latina by blood on her mother’s side: Brazilian graphic designer, Kennya Deodato Baldwin.

You can see her Latineidad reflected in Rhode. Hailey has publicly shared that she owes much of Rhode’s inspiration to her maternal side, specifically how her mom and grandmother cared for their skin as naturally as possible, avoiding harsh chemicals. You can also see it in her love for and perfect pronunciation of words like “pão de queijo” and “guaraná,” which she mentions eating at one of my favorite LA restaurants, Bossa Nova.

It’s common for half-Latinas, and especially Brazilians, to be overlooked as Latinas. But as I’ve said before: “Half-Latina is still fully Latina”.

I’m Alejandra Salazar, Speaker, Founder & CEO of CROING l Creative Agency where we work with brands that want to get closer to their audience. Here, I share audience insights, creative industry events, culturally relevant campaigns, and spotlight women in the industry. Follow me and join the conversation.
